A good edit brief says what must stay.
Start with the smallest useful change. If a product photo needs a different setting, specify the setting while also preserving its shape, visible details, and branding. Save the source, the instructions, and the result independently so a reviewer can compare them without guessing what the editor was asked to do.
01 /Describe the change
Write a concrete instruction about the subject, region, and intended outcome. Avoid combining several unrelated edits in the first request.
02 /Define invariants
Record the details that must survive: a product outline, a face, a label, a material texture, or an untouched background region.
03 /Run a bounded job
Set a time and retry budget. Track queued, running, complete, failed, and canceled states according to the provider’s actual capabilities.
04 /Review before release
Compare the output with the original and the brief. Accept, revise, or reject it using a short rubric that includes preservation and usability.
